Derrick Shelby: Rehabbing the Achilles Tendon

Derrick Shelby, now in his seventh year in professional football, was once forced to undergo Achilles rehab; the process of strengthening the Achilles Tendon, and returning normal ankle movement and mobility, following an Achilles tear.

Though Shelby’s injury occurred in 2016, Derrick Shelby remembers the process of rehabilitation well; one that included:

Participating in stretching and flexibility exercises that helped restore range of motion and mobility.

Strengthening the once-damaged area to build more stress-resistance.

Going through endurance exercises to ensure the affected area was better prepared to perform well under progressively increased workloads.

In his third year with the Atlanta Falcons, Derrick Shelby looks forward to a productive season on the field.
